A 565-acre recreation and education area that includes the:

  • Gilbertson Nature Center
  • Mavis and Conner Dummermuth Historical Building
  • Hart Dummermuth Historical House
  • Petting Zoo
  • Maize Maze
  • Crop demonstration plots

This unique area also offers:

  • Canoe Access to the Turkey River
  • Fishing in the pond or the Turkey River
  • A paved 1/4 mile trail that is wheelchair accessible
  • Playground
  • Shelter House’s
  • Modern Campground
  • Primitive Camping Area
  • Equestrian Camping Area
  • Over Five Miles of Trails that are open for walking, hiking, horse back riding, non-motorize bike, and in the wintertime cross-country ski or snowshoe.

Guided tours of the buildings, field trips at Gilbertson, environmental educational, recreational, conservation, recycling, and composting programs are all available upon request.

Hours:

Nature Center, Historical Buildings and Petting Zoo: Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day, Wed-Sun 11-7 including Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day or by appointment. Petting Zoo also during May by appointment.
