Explore Dubuque’s rich history at this unique historic site. Owned and operated by the Dubuque County Historical Society and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this historic property includes the Mathias Ham House, Iowa’s oldest log cabin (recently restored), a one-room schoolhouse (recently restored), a replica lead mine, a replica miner’s dwelling, and an historic granary.

Costumed interpreters provide guided tours of the site, sharing the rich history of Mathias Ham, the city of Dubuque, life on the Mississippi River, and life during the Victorian era. Scroll this page to explore the site.

Hours:

The Mathias Ham Historic Site is open from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day. Thursday through Sunday for daily tours.  Follow us on Facebook to see events and tours offered outside of the summer months.  The Mathias Ham House is available for field trips, group visits, private tours, and private functions at any time by appointment.

Admission:

Guided Tours: $9.00 adults, $6.00 youth 3-17 yrs, under 2 free.            Self Guided Tours: $7.50 adults, $4 youth 3-17 yrs, under 2 free.
