Event Description

Pollinators are an important part of our everyday lifestyle. Learn all about these hard-working animals at our Pollinators’ Palooza!

Presented by the ISU Scott County Extension Master Gardeners, Pollinators’ Palooza is an entire weekend dedicated to pollinators!

Guests will be able to tour the Putnam’s new Pollinator Garden located in the circle garden outside the front entrance as well as purchase plants raised by Master Gardeners.

Adult and children education programs will also be taking place throughout the weekend. These presentations include:

• “Citizen Science Projects” presented by Nahant Marsh. Nahant Marsh is a 265-acre preserve and is part of a 513-acre wetland complex that is bordered by the Mississippi River.
• “Butterfly Salad Bar” presented by The Quad City Botanical Center. The Quad City Botanical Center is a public garden that brings people and plants together in fun and meaningful ways.
• “Planning a Butterfly Garden” presented by Master Gardeners
• “Magical Monarchs” presented by Master Gardeners

The Davenport Public Library will also be hosting a mobile library where library cards can be issued, books on pollinators and gardening will be available for check out and children can participate in activities at their craft table.

10:15 Master Gardener Trish Wilger “Magical Monarchs” 30 minute program for children
11:15 Showing of “The “Flight of the Butterflies in 3D”
12:30 PM Amy Loving of Nahant Marsh, “Citizen Science Projects for Pollinators”
1:30 PM Master Gardener Ray Wolf, “Common Butterflies around the Quad Cities”
2:30 PM Master Gardener Trish Wilger “Magical Monarchs” 30 minute program for children
3:30 PM Phil Crandall, Crandall Farms, “Backyard Beekeeping” with his enclosed hive
