Waterloo Center for the Arts
A project long in the making, this new addition to the Heritage Area became a reality in April. Throughout the pavilion, hands-on experiences in the many Junior Art Galleries will engage young and old alike. Funded in part by Silos & Smokestacks, the Milk & Moo Cow exhibit brings Grant's Farm Gallery to life with a bucket full of milk and a hearty "MOO"! Whatever your adventure, the Phelps Youth Pavilion will open a "world of wonder, discovery & learning." In addition to the Youth Pavilion, the Waterloo Center for the Arts hosts a wide array of programs, exhibits and activities focused on furthering awareness, appreciation and support of the arts. At the center you'll find a permanent collection of Midwest art, as well as the largest collection of Haitian Art in the U.S. The center also hosts regular changing art exhibits, a multi-media library, cultural enrichment programs and a unique gift store featuring over 200 Midwest artists. Located at 225 Commercial St., Waterloo, the center is open 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday thru Saturday and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays.
