Regardless of how well you plan there is always some degree of risk
to the sponsoring body of a tour. The tour operators carry their
own liability coverage. If you are the tour sponsor you will need
to limit your risk by evaluating every element, the coach driver, meal
service, accommodation quality and history, etc. Keep your
activities in line with the physical limitations of the participant.
Above all make sure that you have liability coverage insurance - either
a policy that you have specifically arranged or one that is provided
under the umbrella of another organization like Silos and Smokestacks,
Festivals of Iowa of some other entity. In any event make sure
that you “have it in writing!!!!”
