Long Description
“Corn County” delves into the many ways that corn production and processing has evolved over the past 150 years. Historical changes in farming and corn usage serve as background information for discussion about current issues related to corn. The purpose of the exhibit is to showcase all of the products that come from corn. The exhibit will be of great interest to anyone involved in farming and agri-business.
Hands-on activities will involve all visitors, but especially children, in understanding the breakdown of a kernel of corn into various products and in identifying the different types of products that contain corn.
Historian Mark Stoffer Hunter will lead a downtown Cedar Rapids architectural walking tour. Admission for each tour is $7 for adults, $6 for History Center members, and $5 for children ages 8 and up.
