    Sugar Grove Vineyards & Gatheringplace

upl_sugar-grove-vineyardsTucked away in the rolling Iowa hills, Sugar Grove Vineyards & Gatheringplace offers something unique to the Heritage Area.  The main building was constructed in 1870 as a small country church.  It then became the home of the Sugar Grove Grange #2044, which began in 1872.  The organization was a thriving community of farming families in Jasper County.  For over 90 years, members of the Grange gathered in the main hall for meetings, fundraising events and Christmas Eve programs.

Today, Sugar Grove Vineyards & Gatheringplace is a wonderful place to host special events.  The newly finished outdoor area allows guests to take in the serene Iowa hills and two-acre pond while enjoying a bottle of wine along with Iowa meats, cheeses and bread.  Sugar Grove is also home to a small herd of domestic elk, which guests love to watch while relaxing outside.

Sugar Grove also offers authentic Iowa merchandise, including pottery, jewelry and photography by Iowa artists. Owners Steve & Colette Hill have traveled across Iowa, selecting pieces that best represent the rich and inspiring beauty of Iowa.

During the cooler time of the year, Sugar Grove presents original dinner theatres featuring six local actors.  Productions are written, produced and performed by local talent.

Encompassing 11 acres, Sugar Grove produces six grape varieties and wines.  Tasting room hours are Wednesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or by appointment.  To schedule an appointment call 641-787-WINE or email info@sugargrove.com.  For more information about Sugar Grove Vineyards & Gatheringplace, go to www.sugargrove.com.
