WATERLOO, Iowa – Celebrate agriculture with Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA) at the “Virtual Golden Silo Barn Party,” Thursday, Nov. 12.
Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area is one of 55 federally designated heritage areas in the nation and is an official partner of the National Park Service. Through a network of sites, programs and events, SSNHA interprets farm life, agribusiness and rural communities – past and present.
Due to circumstances surrounding COVID-19 and for the safety of attendees, this year’s barn party will be virtual. Tickets are $35 per person. Deadline to register is Nov. 5. Participants will receive a Barn Party Swag Bag with cookies by Sweet Dreams Specialty Treats. The online event will feature a virtual happy hour, awards ceremony, and live concert by Flash in a Pan. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit Silos & Smokestacks programs.

Each year at the gala, SSNHA celebrates the best in heritage development by presenting Golden Silo Awards to individuals and organizations whose contributions demonstrate outstanding excellence in preserving and telling America’s agricultural story.
“The story of American agriculture in the Heritage Area is constantly evolving,” said Cara Miller, executive director of Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area. “We’re very excited to honor those who excel in sharing the agricultural experience with visitors.”
A unique variety of travel packages, gifts and baskets will be featured in an online auction from Nov. 9-12. The auction is open to the public. Up for bidding is an overnight stay for up to six people at the New Day Dairy Guest Barn in Clarksville, a fully decorated farm house-style Christmas Tree, a premium wine and cheese basket, and more. A complete list of auction items will be posted to the Silos & Smokestacks website at www.silosandsmokestacks.org/goldensilos.
