    Vote for Silos & Smokestacks “People’s Choice Site of the Year”


    WATERLOO, Iowa – Each year, Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA) celebrates the best in heritage development by presenting the “People’s Choice Site of the Year”. Voted on by the public, this special honor is presented to only one deserving SSNHA Partner Site.


    Voting will run from March 21-March 25, 2022 and will be open to the public at, with the winner announced on April 5, 2022 during the SSNHA’s Partner Site Annual Training at Waterloo Convention Center, formerly The Five Sullivan Brothers Center, in Waterloo, Iowa.


    The 2022 nominees are:

    Ackley Heritage Center, Ackley

    Floyd County Museum, Charles City

    George Maier Rural Heritage Center, Elkader

    Iowa State Fair, Des Moines

    Living History Farms, Des Moines


    The mission of Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area is to preserve and tell the story of American agriculture — past, present and future.
