Prairie Day Camp

CHARLES CITY, Iowa — The National 19th Amendment Society will be hosting their annual Prairie Day Camp on the 1st Wednesday in August,  from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for children entering grades K-5. The camp will be held at Carrie Lane Chapman Catt Girlhood Home. Campers will participate in a variety of games and activities relating to life on an 1860’s farm (several new to this year’s camp), as well as take a prairie walk guided by a Floyd County conservationist and enjoy old-fashioned pressed apple cider made on-site. Campers will also learn about the right to vote, a cause for which Carrie was a champion, and participate in a mock election. Lunch, with a menu of foods Carrie would have eaten growing up as a child, will be provided.

The cost of the camp is $15/child or $10/child if they are the child or the grandchild of a member of the National 19th Amendment Society. Registration forms will be sent out by mail or email upon request by contacting us at (641) 228-3336 or clccatt@gmail.com. Forms may also be picked up at Carrie Lane Chapman Catt Girlhood Home, 2379 Timber Avenue, Charles City, IA between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Completed registration forms should be returned to our site or mailed to the National 19th Amendment Society, P.O. Box 33, Charles City, IA 50616 by July 25.
