Ring the school bell, wipe your slate, and take your seat. Class will be in session at the Little Red Schoolhouse this summer, and the theme for 2014 is “Transportation.”
The Cedar Falls Historical Society welcomes students who have completed first through sixth grades to experience life in an original one-room schoolhouse for one week this summer.
They’ll learn about all sorts of historic forms of transportation. And they’ll get to sing old songs, play games, make crafts, and churn ice cream.
Classes meet every day for a week from 9:00 until 12:30. Each session has two teachers who give the students a sense of what a mixed-grade one-room classroom was like–from reading, writing, and arithmetic to recess! Period schoolyard games make the days especially fun.
Classes will be held the weeks beginning June 23, July 14, July 21, July 28, and August 4. Tuition is $60 per student.
