Gilbertson Conservation Education Area

A 1000 acre recreation and education complex that includes the:

  • Gilbertson Nature Center
  • Certified Outdoor Nature Playscape
  • Mavis and Conner Dummermuth Historical Building
  • Hart Dummermuth Historical House
  • Petting Zoo
  • Four acre pond

This unique area also offers:

  • Two canoe/kayak accesses to the Turkey River
  • Canoe/kayak launch pad on the Gilbertson Pond
  • Fishing in the Gilbertson Pond or the Turkey River
  • A paved 1/4 mile trail that is wheelchair accessible
  • A paved trail from the park border into the town of Elgin and city of Clermont
  • Playground
  • Reservable shelter house at the campground
  • Campground with bathhouse, electric hookups, water fill sites, dumping station
  • Seven primitive walk-in campsites carry in/carry out
  • Primitive equestrian camping area
  • 10 miles of trails that are open for walking, hiking, horseback riding, non-motorized biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing

Guided tours of the buildings and field trips at Gilbertson are available upon request.
