Event Description

Join the AAMI for our brand-new book club, Book Club 802. This month we will be reading Wake: The Hidden History of Women Led Slave Revolts by Rebecca Hall. We’ll be meeting to discuss the book on October 18 from 6:30-7:30 PM at Prairie Lights Books and Cafe.

This book is available for purchase in person or online with our event partner, Prairie Lights Books and Cafe.

Why Book Club 802? The club draws its name from House File 802, legislation which bans Iowa governmental entities — including K-12 schools — and public colleges from teaching “divisive concepts.” As a non-governmental entity, we can continue to talk about race, racism and systemic oppression, and we invite everyone to join us in the conversation.
