Event Description

The Effigy Mounds Winter Film Festival is celebrating its 53rd anniversary beginning Saturday, January 9th, 2015. The free film festival has been in existence since January of 1963 and through the years there has been great support from the community. Great-grandparents, grandparents, parents and children have visited the monument and attended the films. The films are shown on Saturday and Sunday at 10:00, 11:00 a.m., 12 noon, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. There will also be a 1:00 p.m. showing on Monday

January 30, 31, February 1 – Colorado’s Narrow Gauge Railroads – Ride the rails to yesteryear and experience the sights and sounds of Colorado’s narrow gauge railroads, including trips on four famous lines and a visit to the Colorado Railroad Museum.  Learn of Colorado’s colorful railroading past with these rail lines served thriving mining communities. All of this along with the spectacular scenery of the San Juan Mountains. Art by local artist Suzy Tegge

Building hours are 8:30-4:30 Monday through Friday and 9:30-4:30 on weekends.  Admission to the festival is free.
