Event Description
On FRIDAY August 5, 2016, at 5:00 PM in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa, the CHP, in cooperation with the St. Wenceslaus Parish Community and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Czech Republic will present Dr. Joan DeVee Dixon and Alice Fiedlerová in concert. These artists are known the world over and are featured performers for the annual International Dvorak Society’s American Spring Festival, Prague, Czech Republic.
The program will feature Antonín Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances for piano duet, Op. 46. These pieces are performed on one piano with both artists playing simultaneously. The Dances are lively compositions, and it is an incredible experience to witness these great artists perform them. Dr. Dixon will also perform on the 1876 Pfeffer Organ that Antonín Dvořák played on an almost daily basis during his 100 day stay in Spillville in the summer of 1893.
