Event Description
“Playing of wonderful exuberance and fire” is how The Guardian described the Elias Quartet’s performance of Shuman’s Quintet for Piano and Strings. This virtuoso quartet and their special guest Benjamin Hochman capture the energy and deep pathos of this history-making Quintet, as well as Haydn’s Quartet in C-Major, Op. 33, No. 3 (“The Bird”), famed for its light airy notes and playful joke that delights the audience. Britten’s Quartet No. 3 in G-Major (1975) features the haunting notes and contrasting keys that typified his later works. This will be a remarkable concert that provides the audience a roller coaster ride through some of the world’s greatest chamber music.
