Event Description

Celebrate ancient technology around the world, from medieval times back thousands of years! 

Interactive demonstrations on the Pentacrest Lawn in front of Macbride Hall (weather permitting) will include weaving and spinning, paper and parchment making, flintknapping and bow making, atlatl demonstrations, pottery making, Roman bread and porridge making, Native American games, hide & cat tail processing, informational displays and activity tables.

The UI Department of Anthropology and Museum of Natural History will also have their Macbride Hall laboratories open for tours.

This event is co-sponsored by the UI Office of the State Archaeologist, UI Department of Anthropology, Archaeological Institute of America-Iowa City Chapter, Iowa Archeological Society, and UI Anthropology Club.
