Event Description
There are 46 different species of reptiles that call Iowa home including snakes, turtles, and lizards. Most of the time when people think of these cold-blooded creatures, they think of them laying in the hot sun in warm tropical weather. But Iowa reptiles have some tricks up their sleeves for cold weather months.
Visit the Hurstville Interpretive Center to uncover some of the fascinating biological changes and behaviors reptiles use to keep themselves alive during the winter. Participants will have the chance to look at real animal artifacts and end the morning with a beaded lizard keychain craft! This event is free and open to the public, all ages welcome.
Registration is required at least 48 hours in advance. For more information or to register, call (563) 652-3783 or email conservation@jacksoncounty.iowa.gov.
