Event Description

David W. Darby, Executive Director of U.S. Route 6 Tourist Association (http://www.route6tour.com/Route6iowa.htm) will present an informative and exciting program about a highway that still remains one of the longest routes, 3,652 miles, across the United States going from Provincetown, MA through Grinnell, IA to Long Beach, CA.

A large group of classic cars will be touring through Grinnell on Friday, August 23, traveling “Historic Highway 6”. During the afternoon the group will make a stop at the Spaulding Center for Transportation. Special signs approved by the Iowa Department of Transportation, will be soon appearing across Iowa to identify “Historic Highway 6” the route that was once also known as the “RIVER TO RIVER ROAD” during the days when the Spaulding Automobile was manufactured in Grinnell.

The event is free and open to the public, however seating is limited. Following Mr. Darby’s program light refreshment will be available and the museum will be open for viewing.
