Star Party
Event Details
Event Description
There will be no planets to observe this evening, but the Moon will be high in the southern sky and well placed for viewing. Nearly overhead and signifying that summer is ending will be the summer triangle of three bright stars: Altair in Aquila (the Eagle), Deneb in Cygnus (the Swan) and brightest of all, Vega in Lyra (the Harp). Another sign that autumn is upon us will be in the eastern sky where several constellations will be coming into view for the first time this year. They include Pegasus (the Winged Horse), Andromeda (the Princess) with its great galaxy, and Perseus (the Hero) with its bright “double cluster” of stars.
