Giving Tuesday

This has been a significant Fall for Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area. In October we had the privilege of hosting all 65 National Heritage Areas here in Iowa as part of their annual meetings. We spent four days with our peers showcasing Silos & Smokestacks and the story of American agriculture. We highlighted how we do our work at our National Heritage Area, and received many kudos on how we accomplish meeting our mission to tell and preserve the story of American agriculture. It was a pleasure having so many out-of-staters seeing and enjoying what the only National Heritage Area in Iowa has to offer.

Spending time with others who were seeing our Silos & Smokestacks Heritage Area for the first time reminded me of how important our work is to telling the agriculture story. There are still so many people who are removed from agriculture and don’t understand the importance of what ag does on a daily basis to provide food, fuel, and clothing to all of the nation, and the world. Having opportunities readily available as part of Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area for people to see and learn about agricultural history, as well as present day operations, is an important aspect for educating the public. Iowa remains one of the best places to preserve agricultural history and to tell the story of this important industry.

We hope in this time of giving that you will take a minute today and share some of your resources with us so we can continue to do our work of telling and preserving the story of agriculture. We know how important it is to our communities, state, nation and the world. Please help Silos & Smokestacks continue to carry out our mission. Your financial support truly has an impact on the understanding of agriculture in our world.
