Event Description

The City of Dubuque, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, and the Friends of the Mines of Spain invite you to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the E.B. Lyons Interpretive Area Addition.

This project included acquisition of 52 acres and the construction of a new accessible trail from the current E.B. Lyons Center to a new trail along a tall-grass prairie with an overlook, the State Tree Woodland Walk, two new parking lots to serve the center and addition, a shelter, restrooms, drinking fountain, new DNR maintenance facility, kiosks, and interpretive signs.

The event will be held in the new shelter on the project site west of the Interpretive Center, north of the road. Tours of the site and trail will be available following a short program. Please park at the Interpretive Center, 8991 Bellevue Heights Road. For more information or directions, visit www.minesofspain.org or call 563-556-0620.
