Forest Grove School

Forest Grove No. 5 is a restored one-room schoolhouse just off of Interstate 80 in rural Bettendorf, IA. The schoolhouse was built in 1873 and served as a place of learning from 1873 to 1957. The schoolhouse sits on its original site and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Forest Grove No 5 is currently open free of charge to visitors on Saturday mornings from 9:30am until noon from Memorial Day through Labor Day or by appointment. A 10-minute short film by Emmy Award winners, Tammy and Kelly Rundle of Fourth Wall Films, is a highlight of our visitor experience and includes interview clips of former Forest Grove students and teachers.
