Free admission for all Veterans and Active Duty on Veterans Day! Light refreshments will be available. Voices of Iowa: D-Day & Pearl Harbor will be screening in the planetarium and theatre, and write a letter to a Veteran activity will be available for kids.

Get ready for a frightfully fun evening at the Grout Museum District's annual Spooktacular! Put on your favorite costume and enjoy a free, family-friendly Halloween celebration featuring trick-or-treating throughout the museum, festive activities, and plenty of sweet surprises around every corner.
Please note that the museum will close at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 24 and will reopen for Spooktacular from 5:00–7:00 PM.
Dust off your prom attire, and maybe add a little damage, for a Halloween night unlike any other. Join us Friday, October 23 from 7–11 PM for Fright Night Prom, an adults-only celebration blending nostalgic prom energy with classic Halloween atmosphere and a wink toward horror movie fans.
Enjoy a full night of dancing, a costume contest with categories for every kind of Halloween look, and a signature Blood Bag Punch (non-alcoholic, with a bar upgrade available) included with your ticket.
Explore hidden corners of the museum for surprises throughout the night and try your luck at our Mystery Artifact guessing game. Whether you come dressed as a classic movie monster, your favorite prom king or queen, or something a little more sinister, there's a place for you on the dance floor. A cash bar will be available!

As twilight falls, history comes alive at the Grout Museum District's annual Strolling with the Spirits.
Journey through Waterloo Cemetery as costumed actors bring the stories of remarkable local historical figures back from the past, sharing the triumphs, tragedies, and legacies that shaped our community.
Guided walks will be held at 3:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 10:00 PM on Saturday, October 10, and advance registration is required. Cost is $10 for Museum Members, $15 General Admission.
