Event Description
The African American Museum of Iowa has chosen Kim Cheeks of Des Moines, and George Boykin of Sioux City, Melvina Scott of Waterloo as their 2016 History Makers. These outstanding individuals have proven by their actions to have modified the course of history, imparted knowledge, and impacted the communities in which they live. These trailblazers, change agents, legacy makers, and role models will be honored at the 2016 History Makers Gala on September 15, 2016 at the Hotel Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids.
