Star Party
Event Details
Event Description
A thin crescent Moon will be low in the western sky in the early evening and close below the bright planet Jupiter. This will be our last chance to observe Jupiter this summer. It will be starting to go behind the Sun and will soon be lost in the twilight glow. The ringed planet Saturn will be well placed for viewing in the eastern sky. The Big Dipper will be at its highest point in the northern sky. We will use its handle to arc to the bright star Arcturus in the constellation Bootes (the Herdsman) and then speed on to the bright star Spica in the constellation Virgo (the Maiden).
