    Silos & Smokestacks to Hold General Grant Workshop

    Hazleton, IA – Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA) is hosting a General Grant Workshop on March 22, 2007, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at Fontana Interpretive Nature Center, 1883 125th Street, Hazleton, IA.

    All potential applicants are encouraged to attend the workshop to learn about the SSNHA General Grant Program. Workshop participants will learn the purpose and requirements of the program, as well as how to make a successful proposal.

    Eligible grant projects must be located within the Heritage Area and provide a 1-1 match to the grant request. Projects may include exhibit development, educational programs, interpretation, marketing, signs and event programming. The General Grant Program has $50,000 available to Heritage Area applicants.

    No registration is required to attend this workshop. General Grant applications can be found under the Grant section at www.silosandsmokestacks.org and are due postmarked June 1, 2007.

    Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area is one of 37 federally designated heritage areas in the nation and is an Affiliated Area of the National Park Service. Through the development of a network of sites, programs and events, Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area’s mission is to interpret farm life, agribusiness, and rural communities – past and present.
