Northeast Iowa – Each year, Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA) celebrates the best in heritage development by presenting Golden Silo Awards to individuals and organizations whose contributions demonstrate outstanding excellence in preserving and sharing America’s agricultural story. The People’s Choice “Site of the Year” is a special award presented to one deserving SSNHA Partner Site, where the public decides the winner from a group of nominees.
From March 16-22, seven Heritage Area Partner Sites competed in online voting, with the following three sites emerging as finalists:
- Iowa’s Dairy Center, Calmar
- Heartland Acres Agribition Center, Independence
- Hurstville Interpretive Center, Maquoketa
Voting for the finalists will run from March 24-30 and again be open to the public here, with the winner announced on April 1 during the 11th Annual Golden Silo Awards. Follow voting updates and results on Twitter or Facebook at #GoldenSilo.
You may also show your support for your favorite nominee by joining us for the Golden Silo Awards Luncheon on April 1 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at the Kinze Innovation Center, Williamsburg, Iowa. Tickets for the luncheon are $25 per person, with reservations due by March 25. Kinze Manufacturing Plant tours are free.
