Brucemore named 2020 People’s Choice Site of the Year

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Brucemore has been named the Silos & Smokestacks 2020 “People’s Choice Site of the Year.” The Fossil & Prairie Park & Preserve in Rockford and Seed Savers Exchange in Decorah were both honored as being one of the top three sites.

“We are thrilled to recognize Brucemore as our People’s Choice site of the year,” said Silos & Smokestacks Executive Director Cara Miller. “They have worked hard to maintain a quality museum over the years that has stayed relevant for the community and visitors.”

Each year, Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA) celebrates the best in heritage development by presenting the “People’s Choice Site of the Year”. Voted on by the public, this special honor is presented to only one deserving SSNHA Partner Site.

The complete list of 2020 nominees includes:

    • Brucemore, Cedar Rapids
    • Fossil & Prairie Park & Preserve, Rockford
    • Indian Creek Nature Center, Cedar Rapids

Public voting ran March 16-20. Brucemore was announced as the winner, with 61 percent of the votes, on April 7 via a special announcement on the Silos & Smokestacks Facebook page.
