Established by the La Porte City FFA Chapter in 1970, the museum is recognized as the first of its kind in Iowa. Exhibits are located in a renovated 1914 auto and supply store, and also in the town’s original Fire Station, which was built in the 1870’s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can also explore a restored 1861 log cabin and learn about native prairie plants in our butterfly garden.  In 2021 we will be celebrating the museum’s  50th anniversary.  Join us in revisiting exhibits from the past,  reminiscing about life in small town Iowa and the many changes that have taken place.
