The State Historical Building features the state’s flagship museum showcasing Iowa’s rich history, including our use of the land, through a variety of exhibitions. The historical library and state archives research center provides access to vast collections, including newspapers, manuscripts, county records, photographs and government documents useful in researching many aspects of Iowa’s agricultural history.

Museum: Tuesday-Friday 9-4:30 (closed on state holidays). Research Center: By appointment only, Wednesday-Friday 9-12 and 1-4 (closed on state holidays).
