What’s better than a summer night relaxing by the pool, sipping tropical drinks with your friends and neighbors, and supporting preservation of Brucemore? For one night only, Howard Hall’s infamous Tahitian Room will spill out into the pool area for Brucemore’s annual Tahitian Party on June 24 from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. Throw on a hula skirt or Hawaiian shirt and dance to the beat of a steel drum band. With Polynesian noshes, exotic beverages, and roast suckling pig, all complimentary with the purchase of a ticket, what’s not to love?
Brucemore is committed to preserving the site in the spirit of the families who once called this place home. The families dedication to and support of the community is continued today in Brucemore’s mission — to engage the public in the history, traditions, resources, and on-going preservation of the site for the enrichment of the community. Throughout the year, staff and Trustees work to preserve the buildings and grounds of the historic 26-acre estate to ensure that the site continues to be enjoyed by the community for generations to come. Some of the projects supported by the Tahitian Party include preserving the blower-motor of the 1929 Skinner Player Pipe Organ, conserving the Grant Wood Sleeping Porch, and rehabilitating the Lord & Burnham Greenhouse. Preserving the buildings and natural resources of the site helps to ensure that Brucemore remains a quality cultural destination and community landmark.
Tickets for the party are $60 per person. Personal and corporate sponsorship levels are available starting at $125 and offer additional benefits.
