Film Description:

A Home in The Heartland is a unique, modern tale with a twist. On one side of the world, a devastated Bosnian community searches for a fresh start. On the other, a proud mid-western city yearns to regain its vitality. Alone, each faces a dim and insecure future. But together, fueled by hope and courage, these unlikely partners could prove to be a winning combination.

A Home in the Heartland utilizes first person interviews with Bosnian immigrants and Waterloo city leaders as well as original footage to illustrate the intertwined stories of personal struggle and the revitalization of a struggling American city. It also features archival photographs and documents found in Waterloo’s Grout Museum of History & Science and the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, news articles from the Waterloo Courier and archive footage from television news bureaus that covered the Balkan conflict.
