Event Description
Iowa State University Extension Commercial Horticulturist Patrick O’Malley will be presenting a Fruit Tree Grafting workshop on Friday, April 10th from 5:30-7:30pm at the Dubuque County Extension office, 14858 West Ridge Ln., Dubuque. The workshop will include explanations of different types of grafting followed by a demonstration and hands-on grafting session with apple to create the two self-grafted trees for participants to take home. Each student will get to choose two rootstocks (two of one kind or one of each). The class will be approximately 2 hours in length. Mr. O’malley will have budwood or scions from several different trees: Including Honeycrisp, Chieftan, Liberty, and the original Hawkeye Red Delicious. Please pre-register with the Dubuque County Extension Office by no later than April 7th. Due to the nature of the class, there is a maximum of 25 students. The fee for the workshop is $35 per individual or $60 for two or more registering together. The program fee includes two self-grafted apple trees on dwarfing rootstock to take home and plant.
