Event Description

The featured speaker will be staff from the MacBride Raptor Center from Iowa University and Kirkwood Community College which is an outreach program developed to foster appreciation for raptors and rehabilitate injured birds of prey found in Iowa.  The program will have live raptors such as owls and hawks.  MacBride  staff will explain different types of raptors, why they are important and what you should do if you find an injured bird.  Raptors are majestic, wild, beautiful and mysterious creatures appearing in our myths, legends and art as powerful symbols of natural forces.

Visitors can tour the center, view live animals, access the exhibits and gift shop.  Come early, stay late and hike one of the eleven trails at the Mines of Spain Recreational Area.
