Vocalist Kristin Eggen and keyboardist Ben Hippen join forces to present Eggen & Hippen, one of the freshest new musical acts to emerge from the Driftless Area of the upper Midwest. Starting in May 2018, Eggen & Hippen have been making a big impression on audiences with their original songs telling stories of love and loss, astronomy and pirates — along with songs that address issues of topical and local significance. Eggen & Hippen will be releasing their first studio recording in early 2019. Look for it on Spotify!
The Classics at Montauk Concert Series captures the spirit of parlor concerts that were fashionable in fine homes during the late 1800s to early 1900s. Musicians are accompanied on the 1916 Mason and Hamlin grand piano in the music room at the Montauk mansion, the home of former Iowa Governor William Larrabee and his wife, Anna.
There will be a short reception following the concert. This allows guests the chance to meet and talk with the musicians.
The concert series is sponsored by the Clermont Historical Society and the State Historical Society of Iowa, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs.
