Event Description
The Pentacrest Museums will be hosting an open house on Thursday, August 28th from 4-8 p.m.
You will be able to go behind the scenes to view collection and lab spaces at the Museum of Natural History and talk to staff and students working on our latest projects, such as curating delicate insect specimens. There will also be information tables for students to learn about museum groups, research and volunteer opportunities, as well as refreshments.
Old Capitol Museum will be having a special opening reception for the new exhibit Iowa Football: The Birth of a Legacy, with a special appearance by Herky and members of the Iowa Spirit Squad and refreshments beginning at 5 p.m. Follow the first 70 years of Hawkeye pride, from the first game to the 1959 Rose Bowl win, and encounter legends like Duke Slater, Nile Kinnick, Calvin Jones, Alex Karras, Forest Evashevski, and the other players and coaches who broke barriers and built the foundation of Iowa’s football tradition.
