Event Description
Bob Thurman will be featured at the next 2nd Sunday Speaker Series public program on Sunday, March 15, at Hartman Reserve. The event starts at 2:00 PM in the Interpretive Building Community Room. Bob, a local resident, will tell stories and share photos about the adventures he experienced as he hiked the Grand Canyon, from rim to rim. Bob can also answer questions on gear, physical requirements, etc. so that guests can plan their own hike in this beautiful national treasure.
Bob grew up on a dairy farm in Iowa and always enjoyed being outside. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to visit 48 states, five Canadian provinces, Mexico, and Singapore. In addition to Grand Canyon National Park, Bob has hiked many other well-known parks, including Badlands, Yellowstone, Banff, and Grand Teton. When traveling, he always tries to find some place to hike that will help him learn about the local area. In addition to hiking and camping, Bob also enjoys geocaching, hunting, and just about any other outdoor activity.
The 2nd Sunday Speaker Series features a different speaker on the second Sunday of each month on various topics related to natural resources. Speaker suggestions are welcomed. No registration is required for each of these hour-long events and there is no cost, but donations are welcomed. The entrance to Hartman Reserve Interpretive Center is located at 657 Reserve Dr. in Cedar Falls. To receive monthly Hartman program info visit http://bit.ly/2LCwIaR.
