Event Description
The AAMI will host a romantic screening of “The Loving Story” at Cedar Rapids Public Library at 6:30pm. This critically acclaimed documentary tells the story of Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple whose passion and determination changed a nation. Follow them through the legal and cultural challenges of interracial dating during segregation.
The screening will be proceeded by a short presentation by Professor Angela Onwuachi-Willig from the University of Iowa. Professor Onwuachi-Willig will provide historical background on this groundbreaking case.
