Workshop to Help Non-profits and Small Businesses “Build a Better Brand”

Northeast Iowa – Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA) will be presenting the workshop “Build a Better Brand” on Wednesday, November 9, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The workshop will be held at the Waterloo Center for the Arts, 225 Commercial Street, Waterloo, Iowa. Presenters include Mike Tyer, Partner-Creative, and Chris Corkery, Senior Art Director, both of Cohesive Creative & Code, an award-winning creative and web design studio based in Iowa. Previous clients of Cohesive Creative & Code include Fox River Socks, Redbox, MTV and Cedar Falls Utilities.

This workshop will provide non-profits and small businesses with the understanding and tools to upgrade the look of their organization, even on a limited budget. The presenters will share how effective branding can make all the difference when it comes to getting your organization recognized. They will also be offering a Brand Make-Over to one lucky organization to be used as a case study during the workshop. Brand Make-Over proposals must be 250 words or less and be submitted with registration form by September 30.

“Sometimes branding is an element that can be overlooked in many organizations,” commented Don Short, SSNHA President. “This workshop will demonstrate the importance of brand recognition, and the initial steps organizations can take to make their brand more successful.”

The registration fee is $35 per person affiliated with a Designated SSNHA Partner or Emerging Site, with special group rate of $90 for three individuals from the same Partner Site. Cost is $45 per person for all other participants. Registration forms and information on the Brand Make-Over available online under the “Resources” section at www.silosandsmokestacks.org.

Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area is one of 49 federally designated heritage areas in the nation and is an Affiliated Area of the National Park Service. The Heritage Area covers 37 counties in the northeast quadrant of Iowa. Interstate 80 borders it on the south and Interstate 35 borders it on the west. Through a network of sites, programs and events, SSNHA interprets farm life, agribusiness and rural communities – past and present.
