Event Description
Visit our historic farms and master the techniques of handpicking corn during the fall harvest! Walk into the corn fields to learn the nuances of picking and husking corn by hand. Listen for the sound of the ear corn as you toss it against the bang board on the horse-drawn wagon and discover how much work it was to pick 80 bushels a day. Help turn the crank on the corn sheller and relax on the 1900 front porch when you’re done. See harvest machinery demonstrations, a plowing competition, and witness a traditional farm hand’s dinner.
