Event Description
Will there be a town temperance law or not? Will the new mayor run on a dry ticket? The 1875 town of Walnut Hill makes a decision at the polls and you’re invited to help get out the vote! At noon, join candidates for an 1875 style mayoral debate! Try your own hand at swaying votes by delivering an election stump speech! At 1:30, have tea in the millinery and chat with frustrated 1875 women suffragists. Print a ballot in the Advocate Newspaper Office. Museum guests may cast their own fictional vote for mayor and share in the fun of past political processes! Visit the traveling exhibition Spirited: Prohibition in America to discover what happens to the temperance cause after 1875.
